Large Vintage Custom-Drawn Hand-Worked Needlepoint of a Temple Door Guardian (Men Shen) - 1965 - They were deified Generals of the Tang Dynasty, armed with halberds, arrows, magic symbols, and they guarded the house against evil spirits and pestilence.  It's worked in dramatic colors on a size 10 canvas, befitting the personage.  It has been professionally stretched on a Grumbacher Canvas Foundation Board and ready to be framed.  Condition: Excellent.  Signed.

Wonderful Large Famille Rose Figure of Hotei  - The jovial figure well-rendered, shown seated in lavish robes decorated in typical form in soft famille rose colors with bare chest and protruding belly, and holding his buddhist mala beads in one hand and his sack in the other. Exquisitely hand-painted, the Empress shown as a young woman, seated on a throne in elaborate Court dress consisting of a full-length yellow Dragon robe sewn with roundels enclosing dragons,  a wave motif at the bottom of the robe as would befit the Empress, a large string of Eastern pearls around her neck, wearing a Winter hat faced with sable, and a ling zhi (plume) of shuang yan hua ling (Double-eyed Peacock feathers). She is shown with her Lady-in-Waiting holding a large Ruyi (sceptre) in hand.  In the background stands a large three-panel elaborate wood floor screen, decorated with a large Ho-O bird surrounded by other similar birds.  The floor is painted with highly detailed patterned floral diagonal tiles , and a large circular medallion of cloud scrolls encircling a brilliant Ho-o bird sits below the throne.  Condition: Some separation of paper on the right side and in the center into the screen and to the left of the screen and some minor foxing; else very good;  in an old frame by The Rowley Gallery Ltd, Kensington.
